WEDDINGS
If you get married at Bled, don't forget to ring the bell to make your wishes come true. A wedding in Bohinj comes as something natural, while any utterance of "I do" in Škofja Loka ensures that you are henceforth a true lady and gentleman. If you exchange your vows in Preddvor, however, you can be sure your love will last for half a century.
Bled
At one and the same time,
Bled is both
romantic and cosmopolitan. After a civil ceremony at
Bled Castle or one of this area’s picturesque churches, don't forget to take the pletna ferryboat to the
island in the middle of Lake Bled. Ring the bell in the church and your
wishes will be fulfilled. In addition to the castle, island and churches,
Villa Bled is yet another
attractive wedding venue; ceremonies are held in its concert hall, in a marquee in the garden with its view of both the lake and the castle, as well as in the nearby
Belvedere pavilion.
Bohinj
With its
pristine nature,
Bohinj makes a very special wedding venue. It also offers a variety of possibilities; indeed, you may even choose to get
married on a boat in the middle of Lake Bohinj.
Škofja Loka
Škofja Loka is romantic, with more than a touch of a
bygone age. In this most ancient town you can have a modern civil ceremony in the old market square or up in the castle or its chapel.
Medieval-style weddings may also be organised at any of the aforementioned venues.
Preddvor
A wedding at
Preddvor, with its
legend about forbidden love between a gardener and the young lady from the castle, is perhaps a warranty that your relationship will last for a long time indeed. Following a regular civil ceremony at the Bor Hotel or a
special wedding at the nearby Hrib Castle, the happy newlyweds promenade down a tree-lined avenue.
The intertwined crowns of the trees secrete the lovers who, upon marriage, shall live happily together for half a century!
Special venues for weddings and similar such celebrations are also to be found at other castles and other prestigious venues in Slovenia's Alps.
