Lake Bled with its island, Bohinj the country’s largest lake, and the famous Seven Lakes Valley in the Triglav National Park, are the best known of Slovenia's alpine waters. Discover too the Črnava Lake in Preddvor, Planšarsko Jezero at Jezersko, Trboje Lake between Kranj and Medvode, together with numerous other aqueous mirrors reflecting the images of mountains.

Lake Bled and Bled Island

Lake Bled will never leave you untouched. It offers a wealth of sport activities as well as opportunities for laid-back relaxation and romantic moments. The island in the middle of the lake is the most recognisable symbol of Bled and, as the country's only island, Slovenia.

Lake Bohinj

Measuring 4100m in length, up to 1200m in width and up to 45m in depth, Lake Bohinj is Slovenia’s largest natural lake. It is home to lake charr, a type of trout, and many other animal species. The lake is fed by a river that springs to the surface in an easily accessible 71-metre-high Savica Waterfall.

Dolina Sedmerih jezer

Stretching about 8km at the foot of Triglav, the Triglav Lakes Valley (Dolina Sedmerih jezer) was considered one of the most beautiful parts of the Julian Alps at the beginning of mountaineering in this area. The lakelets and pools of the karstified valley are a photographer’s paradise.

Lake Jasna

Before starting your ascent up the hairpin bends towards the Vršič pass, stop for a rest at Lake Jasna. Lake Jasna consists of two connected artificial lakes situated at the confluence of the Velika Pišnica and Mala Pišnica streams.

Lake Črnava

The dark green surface of the mysterious lake is a popular destination for tourist boats and fishermen in the summer, and ice skaters in the winter. The park by the lake is a popular wedding ceremony venue. Near the lake one can find the Sekvoja Energy Park and the BioSinhron Centre of Well-Being.

Lake Planšarsko jezero in Jezersko

The heart-shaped artificial lake was made by local inhabitants in an attempt to replace the former majestic glacial lake that had drained away. It welcomes boaters in the summer and skaters in the winter. By the lake is an inn known for its delicious local cuisine.

Lake Trboje

The damming of the Sava River that led to the flooding of gravel beds and riverbanks has created a lake that acts as the breeding grounds and transitory (occasional roost) for about 140 bird species. The rocky slopes of the Zarica Gorge at the river mouth is home to numerous montane plant species, including the lowest-lying growth site of the threatened Edelweiss.
